How ‘Hungry’ are You??

Another fulfilling week with several excellent meetings for potential new work and a great day delivering my Mental Resilience Masterclass on behalf of Live and Learn to the staff of Arrow Valves. This was a fabulous day with excellent interaction and really positive feedback.

What made this extra special was that their pet dog attended the entire session and I am sure he looked more resilient at the end. You can just see him in the photo at the back. I could feel the positivity in the room and the staff were excellent and engaged.

Again, I was humbled to be sharing my inspirational story and some very effective techniques to help people handle stress more effectively and perform better under pressure.

Great to hear from Dennis

It was great to hear from Dennis O’Connor the MD of Home Project Centres in Ireland and we are chatting about further potential work in Ireland. I also received my plane tickets to Sweden for the conference I have been booked to speak at in September which makes it very real and exciting.

I came across this article in ‘Word for Today’ and it made me think about my persistence in never giving up and by doing that I am now seeing the fruits of my labour.

How ‘hungry’ are you?

Successful people are often just people who were a little hungrier and thirstier for success than the rest of us. What we desired, they pursued.

Napoleon was born in poverty. His classmates made fun of him in school. But he devoted himself to his books, excelled in his studies, and became the brightest student in class.

Before his life was over, he conquered much of the world! If a seedling tree has to fight its way up through rocks to get to sunlight and air, then wrestle with storms and frost to survive, you can be sure of one thing: its root system will be strong and its timber resilient.

Nature itself teaches us that it’s impossible to succeed without going through adversity. If you’re successful and haven’t experienced hardship, you can be sure someone else has experienced it for you.

And if you’re experiencing adversity without succeeding, there’s a good chance somebody else will succeed because of the price you paid. Either way, there’s no achievement without adversity.

The acid test of character is determined by what it takes to discourage you and make you quit. Dr G. Campbell Morgan tells of a man whose shop burned to the ground in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Next morning, he arrived at work carrying a table which he set up amid the charred ruins. On it he placed a sign that read, ‘Everything lost except wife, children, and hope. Business as usual tomorrow morning.

You say you want to succeed? The question is – how ‘hungry’ are you?

What a simple but great story about hunger

I love the story about Morgan who’s shop burned to the ground and the way he responded. We can all choose how we respond to most things which happen on a daily basis. We can choose to give up or fight. We can choose to be positive or negative. We can choose to be happy or sad. We have so much more power than we realise and it’s all inside our heads.

If I am honest there have been dozens if not hundreds of times I have wanted to give up on my dream to be doing what I am now doing – but I didn’t. I chose to get back up and fight. I used my Dream Board as inspiration and kept focusing on the possibilities of what could be. I was hungry.

Now I am seeing the start of something very exciting and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I am still hungry, are you?

Thoughts for the week

1. How hungry are you for success in your life?
2. Success is whatever you think it is – it doesn’t have to be financial or business related.
3. Success can be small or big – whatever it is, it takes effort and time.
4. This week think about what you want to achieve in life and check how much you are willing to give to achieve it.
5. Maybe you have given up on something and now is the time to get back up and get hungry again.

Well that’s it for this week have a wonderful weekend and keep believing!

Warm regards

John
