The Price You Pay for Success is Worth it!

It has been a busy and good week with the highlight being the trip to Helsinki Finland to deliver my Mental Resilience Masterclass to the senior staff of one of the largest energy companies in Finland.

This is the second Masterclass I have delivered for this company and I am out again this coming week from Tuesday to Thursday. It is very exciting to be travelling to Finland to deliver this Masterclass which is receiving positive feedback.

It all started with a few people

It was only a few years ago when I was speaking free of charge to Rotary clubs on cold wet nights to a few retired people some of whom would fall asleep listening to me!! This was the training ground for what I am now doing.

Like comedians who have to learn the trade speaking in working men’s clubs to three men and a dog, this was my training ground to test out material and develop my speaking craft. Since then things have improved dramatically and I am honoured to be sharing my story and Mental Resilience techniques to appreciative audiences.

Fun at the BBC

I have just come back from BBC Radio Nottingham where I spent an hour reviewing the newspapers and it was great fun. It was good to share some good news stories and a couple of Mental Resilience techniques as well.

There is always a price to pay for success but if you persevere and don’t give up the price is worth paying. All successful people have a story to tell of the painful journey where they didn’t give up and ended up with victory.

I came across these lyrics which I believe may be from a song:

If you think you can’t

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win but you think you can’t, it’s almost a cinch you won’t.
For out in the world you’ll find success begins with a person’s will.
It’s all in the state of Mind.

Think big, and your deeds will grow;
Think small and you fall behind.
Think that you can, and you will.
It’s all in your state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize.
Life’s battle doesn’t always go to the stronger or faster one;
But sooner or later, the one who wins is the person who thinks they can.

‘If you think you can do a thing, or you think you can’t do a thing, you’re always right.’ Henry Ford

This is so true

This really resonated with me as the more I teach these techniques the more I understand the power of being positive. It really does change the way you feel and the way you act. If you change the way you think and the way you speak you will automatically change the way you act.

Thoughts for the week:

1. What is your mindset like generally?
2. How do you respond to setbacks?
3. Are you more positive or more negative on a daily basis?
4. If you are more than 50% positive each day you will start to win.
5. Be aware of your feelings and work on feeling good.

Well that’s it for this week have a really good weekend and stay positive.

Warm regards

John
