The Secret to a Happy Life

It has been another busy but fantastic week with several meetings and presentations. I had a meeting with an international client to agree two days’ work in October, a great keynote talk to a radio group, a Masterclass to an Academy for Chief Executives group and a pitch for a new international client.

I love it when it’s busy and following a nice quiet summer it has really taken off. The conference keynote talk to the excellent staff of the Wireless Radio group was a real highlight. The feedback from the staff who represented 7 radio stations across the country was extremely positive and I even ran out of books to sell at the end!

A Purpose and Passion

It makes me realise why I am so passionate about what I do and why I have this plan to be doing this until at least the age of 80. I am now 63 so it’s a 17-year plan. I love having a reason to get up in the morning and achieve things during the day which make a positive difference to people.

Whether it’s training, coaching or speaking, I love to see people’s eyes light up when they discover that they can significantly improve their lives through a few simple principles and techniques. By changing the way they think and act, they will change their future for the better.

This was a revelation to me when I first discovered these principles and I am seeing them change my life in amazing ways. Recently I came across this little story which I feel captures the essence of successful, happy living.

What Am I?

I am seldom considered, though I do more to influence everything about you than virtually any one thing in your life. I often control the time you get up in the morning, the time you go to sleep, what you eat and drink and the very thought that runs through your head.

I can make you either happy or sad, loving or hateful, cheerful or remorseful, congenial or spiteful and in doing so, control the very capacity that you have for success.

No, you don’t often think of me instead you BLAME the problem I create on the shortcoming of others, or the state of the economy, or your family or a million other reasons. Often at times unable to find anyone else to BLAME you look for shortcomings within yourself on which to lay the BLAME.

There is real power in this

When my impact on your life is fully considered in your every thought and action, when you are mindful of my awesome power, when you nurture and groom me for positive use in your life, I can become more contagious than the most prolific disease ever witnessed by man.
My influence will spread to every person you come in contact with.

Groomed and nurtured in a positive manner there will be no person or obstacle that can stand in the way of my success or fail to be impacted for the better. Who am I? I Am Your Attitude.

You choose your attitude

As one of my favourite motivation speakers Zig Ziglar once said ‘Your Attitude determines your Altitude’ and it is so true. Maintain a positive attitude and watch what starts to happen in your life. These are the techniques and principles I teach and I know it works!

Thoughts for the week:

1. What is your attitude like overall – are you more positive or more negative?
2. If you are more negative than positive then the odds are that you are not achieving your potential.
3. The right attitude will take you further in life and you will be happier.
4. Someone once said ‘give me a road sweeper with the right attitude, and I will give you a winner every time.’

A new stock of books has just arrived for those of you who have been waiting – details below.

Well that’s it for this week have a wonderful weekend and stay positive.

Warm regards

John
