Working with Rolls-Royce and Springfield Training again this week was an absolute pleasure.
On Monday, I delivered Masterclass 3 to the fantastic Springfield team in Leeds. On Thursday, I was privileged to deliver Masterclass 1 in Derby to the Aerospace Procurement team, led by Vice President David Halpin.
Springfield’s commitment to improving the mental resilience of its staff is truly inspiring—and the impact is already visible. One member of the team, in particular, has shown remarkable drive to become a leader in her field. She’s set some incredible goals, and witnessing such a powerful transformation is exciting. I’m really looking forward to seeing how her journey unfolds in the years ahead.
Rolls Royce
Thursday’s session was my first time working with the Aerospace Procurement team, so I introduced them to Masterclass 1. It’s a highly skilled and dynamic group, and meeting everyone, including team members from the US and Germany, was an absolute pleasure.
In Masterclass 1, we focus on practical techniques that foster mindfulness, build gratitude, and enhance emotional awareness—tools that can be integrated into both personal life and professional routines. The goal is to create space for reflection, boost focus, and support a healthier mindset, even in high-pressure environments.
The engagement and interaction throughout the session were fantastic. You could sense how well the topics of mindfulness and gratitude resonated with the team. The written feedback at the end was extremely positive, and David confirmed that more masterclasses would be included in upcoming team meetings.
High-pressure environments.
Working with aerospace professionals reminds me that mental resilience is vital in industries where precision, focus, and innovation are non-negotiable. These teams aren’t just building machines—they’re driving progress, and their well-being is key to sustained success.
What I love most about these sessions is how they elevate the energy of team meetings. Rolls-Royce and Springfield have packed training agendas, all highly relevant to their industry and strategic goals—but carving out time for these one-hour masterclasses introduces something different.
The room always shifts when these sessions begin—initial curiosity quickly turns into engaged conversation, laughter, and genuine introspection. Whether it’s a quiet moment of guided breathing or a group discussion on values, a sense of connection carries beyond the hour.
They bring fresh energy, interaction, and life-changing techniques that help people reset, recharge, and re-engage.
Five actions to change your life:
1. Start Practising Mindfulness Daily
Take 5 minutes daily to slow down, breathe, and focus on the present moment. It can help reduce anxiety, increase clarity, and improve emotional balance.
2. Keep a Gratitude Journal
Write down three things you’re grateful for each day. This simple habit can shift your perspective, boost mood, and build long-term positivity.
3. Set Inspiring Personal Goals
Don’t be afraid to aim high. Set goals that excite you and reflect who you want to become. Break them down into small, achievable steps and track your progress.
4. Make Space for Reflection
Give yourself regular time to reflect on your actions and feelings. This will help you stay aligned with your values and make better decisions.
5. Invest in Your Mental Resilience
Take your mental well-being as seriously as your physical health. Read, attend workshops, or try new techniques that strengthen your inner calm and confidence—your future self will thank you.
Well-researched evidence.
My masterclasses are grounded in well-researched, evidence-based techniques proven to create lasting change when practised consistently. These tools aren’t just theoretical; they are practical and powerful and can transform how you respond to stress and high-pressure situations.
I feel incredibly privileged to be in a position where I can help others improve their lives. My journey hasn’t been easy—I’ve faced bankruptcy, redundancy, a near-fatal car crash, and the pain of failed marriages.
But the techniques I now teach were the same ones that helped me rebuild. They gave me the strength, clarity, and resilience to turn my life around—and today, I’m living proof of what’s possible. When I share these tools, I do so from a place of deep personal experience and authenticity. I know they work because they worked for me.
Thoughts for the week.
- How do you currently respond to stress or pressure?
- When did you last pause to reflect on what you’re truly grateful for?
- Resilience can be developed—you’re not born with it, you build it.
- Small, consistent practices can lead to significant, lasting change.
- You don’t have to wait for a crisis to grow—start now, where you are.
Well, that’s it for this week. Have a wonderful weekend, and keep believing.
Warm regards
John
