Unlock the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

This week, I had the great pleasure of working with Rolls-Royce in Annesley, where I delivered Mental Resilience Masterclass 2 to their staff. Thank you, Manufacturing Manager Sam Harcourt, for the booking

Last year, I delivered Masterclass 1, and it was very well received, so they booked me again to help them cope with stress and improve their well-being. They enjoyed the session, and the feedback demonstrated that it would help them improve their ability to deal with stress and other challenges.

They were a brilliant group to work with, and they are now examining the potential of Masterclass 3, including the confidence secret that transformed my life, sleep, and Vision Board techniques.

The Subconscious Mind

This session includes an amazing video highlighting the subconscious mind’s incredible power. Some of the figures are mind-blowing.

“The human brain contains approximately 86 billion neurons, each forming thousands of connections, creating a network more complex than any computer ever built.”

Each of your 86 billion neurons can form up to 1,000 to 10,000 synaptic connections with other neurons.

On average, scientists estimate the human brain has about 100 trillion synapses (connections)! Some estimates even go as high as 500 trillion when considering all potential micro-connections over a lifetime.

Your brain isn’t just a collection of neurons — it’s an unbelievably dense network where signals are firing constantly, creating thoughts, memories, emotions, movements, and everything you experience.

“The brain’s connection network is more complex than all the internet connections on Earth — by a long way.”

In summary, there are:

  • 86 billion neurons
  • 100 trillion connections
  • All working at lightning speed, every second of your life

Wow! Isn’t that amazing? This is why the subconscious mind is so important; we can use it to our advantage.

What does it do?

The subconscious mind controls vital life functions without you having to think, like breathing, heartbeat, digestion, and reflexes. It also reacts faster than the conscious mind to danger, triggering quick responses such as the “fight or flight” reaction.

Once you learn something, like driving, typing, or riding a bike, your subconscious takes over, allowing you to do it without conscious effort. This frees your conscious mind to focus on new tasks and challenges.

Your deep-seated beliefs about yourself and the world are stored in your subconscious. Positive beliefs help create natural confidence, resilience, and success without you having to force it.

The subconscious manages emotional responses based on past experiences. With the right mental “training,” it can help you stay calm, confident, and focused even under pressure.

Your subconscious can directly influence your physical body. Positive imagery, belief, and emotional calmness can speed up healing, strengthen the immune system, and reduce stress levels.

By using techniques like visualisation, affirmations, and positive self-talk, you can “teach” your subconscious to align your daily actions, habits, and focus toward your goals — almost automatically.

Simple Techniques to Train Your Subconscious:

Visualisation
Picture yourself succeeding, overcoming challenges, and being calm, strong, and confident. Daily practice, even for 2–5 minutes, wires these images into your subconscious, making them feel more real over time.

Positive Affirmations
Repeat short, powerful statements like “I am calm and confident under pressure” or “I handle challenges with strength and clarity.” Say them out loud, look yourself in the mirror, or write them down daily to imprint them deeper into your subconscious mind.

Gratitude Practice
List three to five things you’re grateful for each day. This simple practice shifts your subconscious focus toward positivity, abundance, and solutions, rather than problems or negativity.

Catch and Replace Negative Thoughts
Notice when a limiting thought pops up, such as “I can’t do this,” and immediately replace it with a positive, empowering thought like “I’m learning and improving every day.” Over time, this retrains your mind to default to optimism and confidence.

Consistent Habits and Small Wins
Your subconscious loves patterns and routine. Small, consistent actions—like exercising for just a few minutes or practising breathing exercises—build powerful internal beliefs over time. Every small success builds momentum.

Surround Yourself with Positivity
Everything you expose yourself to — people, environments, music, books — feeds your subconscious mind. Choose inputs that lift you up, inspire you, and reinforce the life and mindset you want to create.

Key Principle:
“What you repeatedly tell yourself, show yourself, and focus on — your subconscious eventually believes and acts upon.”

Thoughts for the week:

  1. Are you using your subconscious to your advantage?
  2. What daily thoughts are shaping your future?
  3. How often do you challenge negative beliefs?
  4. What future are you programming into your subconscious?

Well, that’s it for this week. Have a wonderful weekend, and keep believing.

Warm regards

John
