You Can if you Think you Can

What an amazing week this has been – it has to be the best week I have had since I started my business 9 years ago. My wife Julie has been sending out emails to firms of solicitors and she received a reply from one in London. I followed this up and we confirmed a date for me to speak at their strategy day early next year.

This is the biggest booking I have secured in the UK which is very exciting for me and for Julie! This gives her the confidence to carry on sending emails out one at a time knowing that the right person will receive the right email at the right time and that persistence is key to success.

An amazing meeting

I also met with an internationally hailed expert in cardiovascular health who I shared a stage with recently and he thinks we could work really well together. I had to pinch myself that he would even consider working with someone like me who is not yet well known. He has a sporting background as do I and our areas of expertise synergise really well.

This week I also re-connected with a contact from Germany who is putting me forward for a European Procurement Excellence Summit next year. I also spoke to a Managing Director of a company based in Dublin who is looking at a coaching programme and some Masterclasses for his staff.

More good meetings

I had a great meeting with Rolls Royce and a very productive trip to London to meet with the Group Managing Director of a large Radio Group and the meeting went really well. The best one of all is a confirmed booking for next year, which is so exciting I am going to share it in a forthcoming blog – but it involves 3 keynote talks over 7 days.

Momentum and belief are two key factors in success. You have to believe that you are going to make it and you have to build momentum with a consistent message and great marketing. Belief is so powerful and I have had to keep believing that I will make it one day – even in the darkest days I have been through.

A good principle

I came across this recently from Henry Ford and I believe that these words below are from a poem or song about belief:

‘If you think you can do a thing, or you think you can’t do a thing, you’re always right.’
Henry Ford

If you think you can’t

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win but you think you can’t, it’s almost a cinch you won’t.
For out in the world you’ll find success begins with a person’s will.
It’s all in the state of Mind.

Think big, and your deeds will grow;
Think small and you fall behind.
Think that you can, and you will.
It’s all in your state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize.

Life’s battle doesn’t always go to the stronger or faster one;
But sooner or later, the one who wins is the person who thinks they can.

Thoughts for the week:

1. Do you believe you can achieve the important things in your life?
2. Do you have doubts, or do you stay strong in your belief?
3. If you start to have doubts you will give up and never achieve what you could have.
4. Keep bouncing back from negative situations and your chances of success improve dramatically.
5. It may take a while but stay positive, keep going and one day you will see it appear.

Well that’s it for this week have a wonderful weekend and stay positive.

Warmest regards

John
