Blog

Thank you, Harry Dunne!

I’m sat in a nice café writing my blog and I am excited about the way things are developing with my business. I have taken some great bookings this week and my diary is pretty full right up to the June.

There is a shift in momentum as people share about the impact of the sessions I am running.

Just two days ago I received an email from the MD of a business who had heard about the positive impact of a 2-hour session I ran for Maximus Training recently. We had a quick chat on the phone, and she booked me without hesitation for March.

Momentum is building

More and more of this is happening and this is a very good sign. Like any good restaurant the key is the quality of the food and service. In my case it’s the quality of the Masterclass and my delivery. As long as the product is excellent, the word will eventually get out with good and consistent marketing.

What probably excites me the most is that my Masterclasses work across all levels of ability from Managing Director to Apprentice. There can be a mix of abilities in the same room and each person receives tools and techniques for their personal situations.

A man who changed my life

I’m also very excited to be meeting a man tomorrow who changed my life completely 40 years ago. This man introduced me to the Confidence Technique which helped me overcome the terrible nerves I had when speaking in meetings and presentations.

Without this technique there is no way I would have succeeded at Metro Radio. At that time, I was a nervous wreck when speaking to more than one person. This is the technique I now share in my longer Masterclasses and the impact is powerful.

A great man

Harry Dunne was a sales director at the Metro Radio group where I worked as a sales executive, and we became good friends. We used to buy audio tapes from American Motivation Speakers, and we would share them with each other. They were from great speakers like Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins.

This is where I learned about the mind and the power of maintaining a positive mindset. Harry came across this Confidence Technique and shared it with me – it changed my life. I am truly indebted to him for this.

He gave me great advice

We last met 10 years ago when I was just starting my business and I met with him to ask for his advice. I now have the privilege to meet him and his wife Margaret together with Julie at a nice restaurant in the North East of England where we can treat them to a lovely meal as a big thank you.

I also have a signed copy of my book to give him where I have mentioned him in the acknowledgements. Harry helped me with my radio sales career and he also helped me with my current business. Thank you, Harry!

It is important to honour people in your life who have made a difference to you. I have a few of these people who I have honoured, and it is such a joy to do so.

Thoughts for the week.

  1. Are there any people who have made a positive difference in your life?
  2. Have you thanked them properly for this?
  3. This week think of all the people throughout your life and see if they have helped you along the way.
  4. As people come to mind see if you can send them a thank you or meet them personally to thank them.
  5. This is a beautiful thing to do for them and for you.

Well that’s if for this week have a wonderful weekend and keep Believing.

Warm regards

John
